Mess in Texas-polygamy issues.

Any thoughts on this? Is this a religious issue or a human rights issue?

they were talking about this on cnn and they said that there were several young teens 13, 14, 15 who were mothers or pregnant there this is below the age of consent and puts it in the crimminal justice system IMO

I think the welfare of the children trump the human rights issue.I understand that the compound in Arizona is as bad as this one was as far as child abuse goes.

Re: Mess in Texas-polygamy issues.

I was sadden to hear the officials in Texas say the children did not or could not identify their parents. Only 38 confirmed marriages in this whole compound. According to officials in these areas this is normal. I listened to several of the women who have escaped from this life tell their stories and felt so angry.

Around here when 13,14, or 15 year old girls are pregnant by men in their 20's, 30's. 40's and older it's called rape. This is truly a tragic story for many involved.

It's sick. I don't care about the right to religious freedom when it doesn't involve two consenting adults.

401 children there? I can not believe it. No one knew about this?

Plenty of people knew about this. But after the compound raids in the 50s, there was so much bad press it all stopped for a while. Only because a *specific* girl came forward did this happen. And now they can't find her. Pray she's not buried in a creekbed somewhere on that hellhole.

Re: Mess in Texas-polygamy issues.

I watched the Larry King show last night. He had 3 women who escaped from polygamy and one woman who was living the life. I was not impressed with the polygamist.
Later I watched the news report, how nice these sexual predators had a bed right in the temple, girls as young as 13 made to marry and start families. So sad, so sick, and so wrong. One reporter said we spend millions overseas to promote human rights and we do nothing in our own country to stop this type of abuse even though authorities knew some of what was happening in these communities.
I shudder to think how much more will be revealed.
