In Memory of fallen troops on Memorial Day

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/05/23/mem...rpt/index.html

Very nicely done, and very moving.

From me, personally, thanks to:
My brother (new Marine)
My dad (USAF)
My granddad (WW2 Army Ranger), whom we recently buried.
My stepdad (WW2 Army)
My stepbrother (Marines)

And members of AN with military service history.

Day is done, gone the sun
From the lakes, from the hills, from the sky
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.

This is a Veteran's Day (Remembrance Day-Canada) Video Nov. 11 but it serves just as well for Memorial Day.

My Dad (USMC, USCG WW II) My Uncle Jimmy (died as a result of D-Day injury WW II,) My 2 BILs and MY DH (Vietnam) My GGF (WWI) My GGGF (War between the States), his brother (Spanish American War), Their uncle (Mexican rebellion), and to the millions and millions and millions of other brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, fathers, mothers and grands. At LEAST 2 minutes of silence on this Memorial Day.

Re: In Memory of fallen troops on Memorial Day

Almost daily I think of my cousin, three weeks older than me, who died in Viet Nam.
His best friend, who he joined the Marines with, is a grandfather now.
He was the most cheerful and self confident of us all.

I wish I'd gotten to know my Dads brother who was shot down over Italy in WWII.
And I miss my uncle who was a Marine in WWII, many theaters. He loved us so very much. Thanks to my aunt he lived a good life in spite of undiagnosed PTSD.

And even 44 years after graduation the #1 cause of death among my high school classmates is the Viet Nam war.

Bless us all and pray for peace.
