Kindness in this story made me cry

In these days of bullying, bashing, and rank insensitivity, this story made me cry. The kindness and generosity of these athletes will be remembered long after their scores and awards have been forgotten.

Central Washington offers the ultimate act of sportsmanship

Updated: April 28, 2008Western Oregon senior Sara Tucholsky had never hit a home run in her career. Central Washington senior Mallory Holtman was already her school's career leader in them. But when a twist of fate and a torn knee ligament brought them face to face with each other and face to face with the end of their playing days, they combined on a home run trot that celebrated the collective human spirit far more than individual athletic achievement.

Truly, this was a game where everybody won.

As a former softball player, both junior and senior, this swells my heart.
Thanks for sharing it with us here.
Wonderful, just wonderful.
With young people like this in our world, there's hope for us all.

Thanks also for igniting a memory for me of my own proud moment as a player. It wasn't as noble as this story, but still a proud achievement for me at that time.
I once hit a home run with bases loaded, thereby securing a winning game for my team!

And, I hadn't thought of this in years! I'm sitting here with a HUGE !
See, the memory still makes me smile all these years later!

Very moving . .. I sent it to my oldest son and I'll have my other son and my daughter read it too.

They all played baseball/softball.
