Is anyone else freaking out???

Is it just me, or is anyone else scared s***less by the news? My God, I have to get on a plane and fly to Jamaica later this month...I honestly don't know how I'm going to do that now!! Now they're saying to expect more attacks. I mean, I guess I KNEW that more attacks would eventually come, but when it's stated on the news it just brings it that much closer to home. I'm scared. I just want this to be over with. Now. I hate not knowing, I hate not being in control, and I hate the fact that I have no clue where the next bomb is gonna land. Yes yes, I know that all of that was true before any terrorist attack, and no one ever knows what's going to happen next, but I just feel so insecure and scared now. Is anyone else like me??

Where do you think they're going to strike next? Here, or somewhere in Europe? I keep thinking L.A., personally. Big city, internationally known, billions of people. I'm just really scared and want someone else's insight and thoughts on all this.

Sorry for the spaz-out. Just had to vent. It's always better to get someone else's view...makes the picture clearer, you know?

I think we're probably all at least a little nervous right now. I keep telling myself I am not in any more danger than I was before this happened, just more aware.

Yes I am freaking out. It is my opinion that whatever we do militarily, it will be followed by some terrorist act here.

Please don't mistake my response to mean that I am against military action. Yes we should take action. But they will respond.

According to the Attorney General we are supposed to be more aware, and know that other attacks may follow, but at the same time go about our daily lives. I am living my normal life, but still freaking out inside.

Quite frankly, living close to an Air Force Base, I get "re-scared" every day. I drive by the base or base housing and see armed guards, full gear, etc. and it reminds me every day how short life really is.

Last Wednesday, I was driving home from school and there were allot of C-5's in the Air as well as fighter jets headed out toward the ocean. Called a friend and was told that they had "scattered". Being a veteran, it didn't help much knowing that.

But, like everyone else, I go about my life, trying to act like nothing is wrong. But some days are harder than others.

Okay, so I'm not the only spaz out there. Well, then, let me pose this question....especially to the guys/veterans/active military...WHERE and WHEN is it going to happen next? I know speculation is a dangerous thing. I'm just wanting to know what everyone else is thinking. Big city? Small town? Airport? Cruise line? Where? My mother said that she thinks they'll hit a small city next...you know, psychological warfare. You're not safe anywhere.

I just hate the feeling that the boogeyman is lurking around the corner, you know? I'm having trouble sleeping, trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, constant headaches, tense as a rock. If I wasn't worried about starting a whole ugly fight w/my husband I'd be smoking again. BLEAH!! I feel like such a spastic nerf ball. Like I need to go run around the block a few times screaming.

I'm sure everyone is scared. That was/is the whole point behind the terrorist acts. They WANT us scared and I imagine their next hope is the fear will turn us against our own people and government (it worked on me for a few days). I almost went into a deep depression, for the first time in my life. Finally, although I really want to know EVERYTHING that's going on, I started tearing myself away from the TV and radio. I got outside, completely away from any talk of terrorist. It helped me tremendously. I'm back to watching a little TV, but I still limit myself. I quit listening to talk radio, more for my kids sake than mine.

As for where it'll hit next? No one knows. It's just as mysterious as death itself. I look at it like I've always looked at airplanes. Just as you're more likely to be killed in an auto accident than on an airplane, I figure right now, that's also the case for terrorism vs auto accident.

It does us no good to wonder and worry. I am trying to leave the worrying to the professionals, our government and foremost, to God.

But, K-day, I seriously doubt they'll target a small town. The population isn't as great or as condensed, so there'd be less casualties. They want as many people at one shot as possible. BUT, security isn't as strong in small towns, so that'd be to their favor. Media doesn't cover small town tragedies like they do big city tragedies, either. Last week, there was a mining explosion where my brother and brother-in-law work. It killed about 12 miners and injured several others. Fox news ran a line on it on their ticker at the bottom of the screen, that's all the national coverage I saw. It was the largest mining accident in North America since 1984. I'm sure the 9-11 attacks have overshadowed much news, but I seriously doubt that would have gotten much publicity anyway. However, they probably would cover a small town terrorist attack.

It doesn't matter if it's small town or big city, we're all in this together. We need to stick together and try to prevent it from happening ANYWHERE. Self preservation makes everyone hope it happens somewhere else. I hope it happen nowhere.

ITA Nurs4, Kelly, try to get away from the news a little. Take a bubble bath, go out for a walk. If you need to relax in front of the tube, go rent a funny movie, my latest favorite to boost my spirits is The Wedding Singer, that movie just cracks me up!!

I remember feeling a similar depression when I was a teenager, and all the adults around us always talked about "pressing the button", or "dropping the big one" re: nuclear war.

If you really feel like it is getting the better of you, call your EAP, or seek a counselor of your own. They said on the news it IS good to talk about it. OK, so we are pretty sure it isn't over, we have no idea where or what the next hit will be. What can we do? Don't let the terrorists change our way of living that's what.

I have found my peace by putting it in God's hands. Whatever is going to happen will happen, so I am moving on with my life. I hope you can find some peace too Kelly. Now, what kind of sport or activity will allow you to scream at the top of your lungs and get it out of your system w/o anyone else being the wiser. How about Karate? Great physical release, you get to yell really loud, and you can maybe learn to kick some terrorist butt!

Peace to you my friend.

I can emphasize with all of you. Been sorting out my emotions, especially my fears over the past few weeks. Have been praying more now than ever. These are truly perilous times in which we live, times which Jesus foretold: "Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth..." (Luke 21:26). Some Scriptures that have been especially comforting to me:

PSALM 91
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3 Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee...

9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even, the most High, thy habitation;

10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

11 For He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

PSALM 121
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: He that keepeth thee will not slumber...

5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.

6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul.

8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

kday,
Being afraid is not necessarily a bad thing. Keeps you alert.
I prefer not to give the responsability of my safety to anyone else.
I continue to study martial arts. I own several firearms and I am proficient in the use of same. I have several means of inflicting pain and or death on any box cutter weilding idiot.
Terrorists live for publicity (like many people in the news). The next attack will be something that will most likely get international news coverage. It may not kill that many, but it will make the news.
So be alert. Look around before you actually walk out the door.
Look at all strangers with suspicion. Be aware of what is going on in your area. And take a self defense class or hundred. Become the meanest SOB in the valley. Gary

Not freaking out, just very sad. I guess I am too close to the center of the problem. A little numb. Also very easily tired. Not my usual cheerful self yet. But trying to live as normal a life as possible.
