Does anyone work a weekend program only? I am curious as to the pros and cons. What has been your experience with these shifts? Thanks for the imput.

I have worked two weekend programs the pros were that you were off the other five days which allowed you to work another job or be home when children came home eliminating the need for sitters.Cons were if you work 7a,you could not go to church,most family get together are on weekends,so you miss alot of them.

I used to work home health weekends only and I really missed church. there were harsh penalities if you called off or anything. I think you were only allowed three call offs per year or something like that.

I have a friend that does it and loves it.

I did a weekend Baylor plan when my son was small. The pros are it worked for my family, weekend staff is tight, generally the work is slower on weekends, money was good.

Cons were hard to find a replacement if you needed a day off, missing weekend activities with family, etc.

It worked well during a certain period of my life.

I have been working the weekend plan for six years, 7a-7p. It works well for me because I have two small children and there is never a child care issue. My husband works M-F and is home with my girls on weekends. I do miss going to church and am looking forward to the day I no longer have to work weekends and can become more involved with the church again.

I did it for awhile and it would have worked great too if they had had it well organized. As it was I hated it for the most part. Loved the days off in between and the pay but as weekends are generally short I got worked alot as the aid. I am not insulting aids either it is just really hard to be the aid when you are a nurse and you are expected to do both jobs at once. Anyway that is my take on things.

I worked Baylor for years in the past. Good money and the 5 days off... wow! What I wouldn't give for that!!!!

I have no kids, divorced and I am not a Christian so church is not in my life at all.

I would love to work that again and give my Christian friends their Sunday sabbath to be off and spend some good quality time w/their families.

wake med in Raleigh offers a true baylor program. fri, sat or sunday, you choose 2 of the 3 days, work 24, paid for 36 hrs, plus full time benefits and retirement.

It appears you need to be in the system to bid on a position, not "in house" and couldn't get a baylor position to save my life, with excellent references and 8 years exp.
