Well, not really spanked, but.... showed up at a new facility on the Psych unit and after getting report I went to meet and greet my patients. I was chewing some aspergum (getting over some bug) when I was confronted by a short little man in a lab coat with bad hair plugs who said "Who are you?"

Guess my badge and scrubs were in a foreign language. I introduced myself and asked who HE was. His reply, "come here, I want to speak with you!" I left the main dining hall and he shoved me into the nurses station, held out his hand and said "SPIT OUT THAT GUM RIGHT NOW!!!"

I was wondering if he was a patient or just a deluded health care dude with a bad case of "little man syndrome" that he would feel compelled to call me to the front of the class like that! I mean REALLY!!!! So I looked him square in his one good eye and said, "you pulled me off patient rounds for this?" He pointed to the garbage can and stood there tapping his little foot in cheap loafers.

Now, I am new to this floor and consider myself a pretty good judge of character and between you , me and my Uncle Morty this guy couldn't fill a hair follicle with anything remotely connected to reality. I wondered if this was some type of evil initiation. I was also concerned that the air filtration system may have gone awry and began spewing some evil concoction onto the ward that caused some temporary regression into the 3rd grade.

This story get's much worse since I also worked along side another nurse from my agency that I had recruited 6 months ago, she even told them I recruited her and THEY BOLDFACE LIED TO ME and denied they had ever heard of her.

Man, when I tell you I am going to have a busy tomorrow you know I mean it.

Last week I worked at a sister facility and mentioned this little man to the charge nurse who had heard equally weird stories about him. I think, based on how the rest of the shift went, he is in need of serious intervention. He would say the most outrageous thinks towards the staff, "You don't need no stinken woman to have sex!" or " why don't you go apply an ice pack to your crotch?" or "it would be better if you came over and sat on my lap!"

I wrote down every comment this bozo would utter and have considered writing him up for letting my geri DM patient go 5 hours without urinating, patient was lethargic, diapered and pretty unresponsive upon return to the unit from a long diagnostic procedure. His BS was WNL although his bladder was distended. When I alerted Dr. Hitler to the situation and suggested a bladder scan and an I & O cath, he looked up at me and said "what is your fixation on this guy's genitals anyway?" and then declined to intervene.

Eventually I contacted a REAL MD who agreed to the scan, a FC was placed and this patient drained 700 cc of cloudy urine which was sent for C & S.

Some kind of nut he was! I think he is the poster child for the Scientomology website against Psychiatrists. I am really steamed and concerned over the "spit out that gum" incident and still feel like I got "spanked".

Wonder if he was from the old school where they felt it wasn't professional to chew gum.I had something similar where My RN instructor did this to me. But my gum the instructor had me place on my Nose and wear on the ward. Never chewed gum while working after that.

He does sound a little Cookie though. But the thing to ask yourself will he make your life a living hell if you turn him in. For the possible patient abuse.

I was also chewing gum . My shift was started two mintures ago . Another nurse was giving me report . I was still chewing gum . She yelled at me . She told me that if I keep chew gum like this . She will wide open my mouth and take the tounge and gum out
