Please tell me if I'm wrong....

Please tell me if I am wrong...
I work in home health w/ kids... yesterday one of the lil tikes got very sick and family sent to hosp... Being the person I am... I called up agency and told them what was going on... super told me to plan on going to the home unless I heard otherwise..

So guess what? I get there.. no kiddo to take care of...I asked super if I would get paid for time travel there...Because it was their fault for not contacting me... I got a resounding "NO" becuz I wasn't taking care of her...Yes, I understand their view...but it me up pretty bad... they have done this twice...
Anyone else have this prob? Any advice would be greatly appreciated...THanks!!

Yes. I have just gotten back to agency after 5 years. I am still 'feeling out' the agency climate in my area and new practices. My previous agencies paid me time and trouble and my current agency has yet to do this. Apparently they do not believe in it.

I may move on to another agency if it becomes a recurring problem. I know it's aggravating.

Seems like show up time is in order. Seems unfair to me.

Since they told you to go then you should get paid. Refuse another assignment until you are paid for your travel and time, and sign with another agency as the one you are with is obviously not worth your time.

Apparently there has been probs w/ this agency for some time...and thats the problem too w/ in itself... I can't find work like this around locally...I think we have mayb 2 HH agencies in our area and the one "doesn't hire LPN"s"

Well... not to say that I think they should not do anything less then pay you; another althernative is to be more proactive in calling patients first before going. I used to do this in setting up my appointments throughout the day. Is this possible? Then if they do not answer you can tell the agnecy that you are not going unless they can guarantee you time and trouble the next time.

When I drive a long distance, or have been canceled frequently by the facility, I have been known to break policy and make a confirmation call myself 2 hrs before the shift. Particularly since my agency doesn't want to pay time and trouble, I'm saving myself the aggravation I figure.
