Maxim Staffing Solutions

Has anyone worked with this company? Good - Bad experience? I have been working there a few months and I like the young atmosphere with lots of energy and happy attitudes.

Working right now for Maxim as an aide. The money is very good in my area for aides, about $3 more an hour than the hospital job I've been at for 6 years. I like deciding when I work and not management.
If I don't like a facility, I can request not to work there again. I did this for one LTCF. First day, by myself with 30 patients that management expected to be up and ready for breakfast. Only one nurse. All with foleys and it was obvious peri care had not been done for a long time. After lunch, I had a LOL try to kill herself by wrapping her call light cord around her neck. I refuse to return to that facility - too scared of what could happen legally to me. And I love not getting involved in office politics.
I'm not too worried right now about not getting work. I know that some people do and it may be different for nurses. I get called daily, mostly in the evenings asking me to work the next day. If you do consider working for them I would ask in general how many hours you can expect, especially if this will be your primary job and not your second.
The only problem I have is that the office staff in my area are very young. Most are about 20 years old. I'm not prejudiced about age, after all I'm only 27 but they come off as unprofessional. But this could purely be in my area only.

I've worked with Maxim for 10 years now, full time, in Virginia. It has paid me well and I haven't had any problems getting assignments. Of course, nothing is guaranteed, as far as work goes. I've had great days with more than enough work, and some days when it's been slow. The only thing that riled me recently, was cutting out the paid vacation. 480 hours earned a 40 hour vacation. Benes are available, which is nice. I guess it depends on which office you work out of.

I have a question for nurses who work for Maxim, and other agencies. Are you paid more per hour, that a hospital job would pay? Here in Spokane, the agencies ALL PAY SEVERAL DOLLARS AN HOUR LESS THAN THE HOSPITALS PAY.
I am talking about over ten dollars LESS!!! Everytime I have called them and questioned this, I get the canned answer, "well that is all the hospital/nursing homes will let us pay"!!! I have told them that they are full of it. I would appreciate some feedback. Thanks.

Here in Ohio, I would take $10/hr pay cut to work agency in a hospital as opposed to working staff.
Fifteen years ago, I make $18/hr MORE working agency than I did the hospital.
Not sure why that is either; I'm thinking it might have something to do with the state hospital association payrates for agency nurses. I've heard some controversy on price fixing about things like that but don't quote me, I may have that wrong.

I guess it depends on the agency and depends on the office that you work through. I found that I earn more money than the staff that are at the place. That's for a good reason too. I'm coming in to help out a staffing shortage and to cover patients that I have not met. I'm there because I am needed. I'm in, do the work, and leave, so I have to maintain a high level of competency. Of course, it's nice to build up a reputation so they call back and ask for you. In a way, you're self-employed and, as such, you maintain your own hours and days. It's always good to have 2 agencies rather than 1. If 1 is slow, the other might be busy. I've been agency for 10 years, exclusively, and love the independence. But, it's risky, as with any business. Check each agency and see what their pay rates are.
