Just curious if anyone has experience with Maxim. I haven't officially signed on with them yet but I'm seriously thinking about it.

Re: Maxim

I work for Maxim in the Ft Worth area. I cant say they are any different than the other agencies I have worked with except the pay is a little lower than say Nurse finders. I have found out from other people that for the last several weeks the paychecks have been off and are not being corrected promptly. This is the flu shot clinic area and not the staffing part. I also do not like that the people that do the staffing are not familiar with the nursing profession. For example when I tell them I am not working at a facility because I feel it has unsafe staffing ratios they are like "what are you talking about". I think 45 patients (day shift) , no assist with meds and treatments ( trachs and g tubes) then have Medicare charting plus whatever else goes wrong is a unsafe place to work... especially when you are a agency nurse and do not know the people. Good luck...

Re: Maxim

I'm with Maxim & I think that the issue of them not having nurses on board is beginning to bite with me too. On the plus side they are offering me a better wage than with any other UK to US agencies but they are not willing to bend on expediting I-140 & were not happy that I even dared to question the ridiculous RN pre-screen test they set (which was supposed to be like a mock N-CLEX but was way off the mark). Their manager is the main problem & I'm taking this up with my UK agency as we speak.

Having said that, they do their job, & their terms, from an international point of view, are fair. It's just that I feel they would do it better if they had more nursing knowledge. I also feel that unless they start familiarising themsleves with the personnel & nursing side of things they are going to find that they become very unpopular in the future!

Re: Maxim

I worked for them as an Agency Nurse many years ago. They were okay. I did find an Agency who paid quite a bit more so I left, The one thing I remeber them being really good at was getting double and triple pay on late call.

Re: Maxim

I work for Maxim and have to say I love them. They were the only agency willing to take me aboard right out of nursing school when I was really hurting for cash. I appreciated that so much that I've found I've built up a loyalty to them and don't plan on leaving them anytime soon...not even for a dollar or two more per hour from another agency. Maxim is good in that I hear they don't pay as good, but they almost never cancel shifts on me.

Re: Maxim

I've been with Maxim for 8 years now, in Virginia. Never had a problem with them; work has always been available. Other agencies I've been registered with, have been "off and on" a lot. Insurance benes have been nice.

Thumbs up Re: Maxim

I worked for Maxim across the country,as I was a travel nurse for 10 years. I found it easier to transfer my information, Now I do not work for them, I find that in my current state, they are not friendly and do not want to pay me a decent salary. They also for the first time did not accept my information from the previous state, even though I had everything updated before leaving. There are many agencies out there, please consider looking at different ones. It is best to belong to more than one

I've been working with Absolute Healthcare since May and the work is very sporadic. For awhile, I had all the shifts I wanted. But for the last 6 weeks, I've had TWO 8hr shifts. TWO. I've asked Absolute 3x if they've had complaints about my performance and they say "No". I call in every Monday morning to give my availablity... yet they don't call me for work and I can't figure out why.

I signed up with Maxim today and will continue to stay on with Absolute... if nothing else, the length of service with them will look good on my resume. LOL
