First shift

Hi,

I just completed my first agency nurse shift. After 13 years at one hospital, I was very nervous and apprehensive........but I did it and I loved it. I found that my scavenger hunting abilities had to come forward.

My first shift was in ER and I got to shadow a nurse for about 2 hours then all heck broke loose. I was on my own. They had a very user friendly computer system, so I think I did ok with that.

I do have a few questions. If you commute to a facility that is not in your area, can you take the mileage off of your income taxes? I did my first shift in ER where my experience is; do you think I would be able to work some Med/Surg or Telemetry shifts. I want to try and get fulltime hours and I know I will have to be flexible with what I do. I am from a small rural hospital, where I worked ER and was a house supervisor, so I have had some med/surg experience.

Thanks,
Cris
