Cancellation policy with agency nursing

Hello everyone, this is my first experience working as an Agency Nurse. On my first day of work, I was told I was cancelled after I got to work. The hospital said they were trying to contact my agent all night and couldn't reach him. Should the agent pay me for my trip to the hospital all though I didn't work? WE are supposed to find out about cancellations 2 hrs. prior to the shift, right? I hope someone will be able to answer my questions.
