Strep A: anyone else?

Just thought I'd throw this out there to see what I get in response:

In my burn unit, we've had an OSA (overwhelming strep A) patient since before X-mas; on top of that pt., we've had three other strep A nec fasc/purpura fulminans patients all within a month. One died, one had multiple amputations, one is lucky to have kept the affected limb.

Anyone else out there getting hit with a bunch of strep A/nec fasc/purpura patients all at once?

Mike in Michigan

I've only seen one in the short time I've been at my unit. It was definitely an experience I won't forget. That's the only one I can think of though.
