Moving on......

Just dropping a note to all my burn colleagues. My time to move on has come, this is my last week as a burn nurse...I start CRNA school in January and I'm spending the last few weeks of the year with my family.

My time in the Burn ICU has truly been an experience like no other. I have honestly enjoyed my time in the unit and will actually miss it, but anesthesia has always been my true passion and my ultimate goal. Prior to being a RN I had been a Paramedic for about 6 years and had seen a LOT of disturbing sights, but none touch that of some of the burn patients I have cared for.

Being in the Burn ICU over the past 3 years has given me a new appreciation for life, an abundance of ICU experience/skills to take with me to anesthesia school, an even stronger respect for fire. During my time I have taken care of adult and pediatric burn patients, it's amazing the resilience this patient population has to overcome such tremendous and life altering trauma.

Thanks to all of my colleagues and patients who have helped become the nurse I am today. Keep up the good work, your patients truly need you.

Matt

Good luck, Matt. I have a feeling I'll be doing the same thing in future.
