Would you marry your prison pen pal? Do you know women who married their " prison pen pals? How did it turn out? Thanks
I wouldn't want any relationship with a prison pen pal unless it was my brother or family member. Having said that, nope......wouldn't wanna marry one either. I have seen the shows and reports of women who do marry inmates and MOST of them have some kind of emotional/mental problem. They come from distorted walks of life, or odd backgrounds. There is a famous woman who moved to AZ to marry an inmate and based on the interview............she was plain odd.

Sorry, don't mean to offend anyone or by any means is my post derogatory in any way (or intend it).

Thank you so much for the concern, it is appreciated. I have never been more certain about anything. He is a wonderful man.

Talking Re: Would you marry your prison pen pal?

Maybe I should have found and married a prison pen pal. My ex-husband was a total jerk. People tried to warn me about him but I wouldn't listen. After all, I thought they were all so jealous of me since he was so very handsome.

For the record, I'm not in jail, I have a good job, and I'm not a 'loser' (although I wouldn't poll EVERY former gf about that.)

But nobody writes me.

Sigh.

Re: Would you marry your prison pen pal?

There are always women who want to save men. Come on, why else is the John Travolta bad-boy motorcycle-ridin' image so popular? It's just an extension of it.

I work in a jail, and I am sometimes struck with how charming some of the inmates can be. I've never felt an urge to date one, but I will sometimes be talking with one, and think, Oh my god charisma OOZES off this man. People who commit crimes, especially con men, can be incredibly, incredibly charismatic. Probably even more so on paper.

I think you have to look at the crimes committed when you talk about women dating men who've been incarcerated. Yeah, if I was single I'd date someone who got napped for marijuana possession a few years ago, or got an assault charge punching someone who was threatening them, or even got in the car drunk. Murder? Rape? No thanks.

Someone who got busted for marijuana posession or simple assault isn't likely to be in prison long enough to be looking for pen pals, though, are they? At least judging from the media portrayal of these relationships (which I'm sure has limited reliability), it seems to me that the majority of these "friendships" are with hardened criminals serving multiyear sentences. Just not something with which I care to get involved.

Re: Would you marry your prison pen pal?

Well, it depends on how MUCH marijuana...

But you're right, simple assault usually doesn't get you a prison sentence, unless you punch out Paris Hilton or something.

I am sure there are some people in prison who really do change and want to live a new life. But I certainly wouldn't trust myself to separate them from the others...
