The only difference is they copped a plea or are actually guilty by reason of insanity. But I loved that job. The politics got to be too much so I left. But now I am working the best job I have had in all my years as a nurse. I am in Department of Corrections but I am contracted through my company to provide Mental Health nursing to the female IM's. I love it! I am still learning how to do what I do and to help Medical nurses with what they have to do. My biggest thing right now is helping medical by discontinuing medications that the IM's are refusing to take. This helps bring down all the wasted medications and the extra people coming for med lines.
I worked at MECC in Pacific. I agree with the medication reductions you are attempting. I just hated to destroy all those meds that no one took but were contaminated after being in the IM cells. What a waste.
