I am in Texas, former prison nurse (currently working ER) but going back into corrections.........this time state, not privatized prisons.

I am in florida and am trying to get hired at our local county jail. We also have 2 state prisons inour county also. Florida Correctional for women and Marion Correctional for men. wish me luck.. never have done corrections before but know I have an interest in doing so

update: on 8/27/07 I started atthe marion county jail.. been a month now and I love it

County jail, county employee, about 320 inmates total. Best job ever! Good pay, clean conditions, sometimes even time to sit and study. Got into in by accident, plan on staying for a while.............

i'm in louisiana, minium security, 60% INS( illegal immirgates ), private prison. love it. wouldn't go to a ltc or hospital for the world.

I am here in TX. and work at the TDCJ HG Prison Hospital as a PICC nurse. I transferred from a Federal Correctional Complex where I was an LVN for two years. Great Experience!!

I am from Texas, I work in a 1300 bed minimum/medium security state prison. I am a Chronic and infectuous disease nurse.I love my work...and have found it quite rewarding in many ways. I have been a nurse for 25 years, and have seen alot of things in prison nursing that I never saw in the free world. SOme of the sickest people I have ever met have been here. ALot of it a result of life style...alot of it from self neglect secondary to that life style. I now understand the ong term effects of sexual and physical abuse of people...something I have never seen before. In the free world you see the children it is occuring to, but it prison you see what is left after they have grown. Many crimes are the result of that abuse and it's long term effects on the psychy. But I love it!!

I work at the Berlin State Correctional Hospital and we are as good as government gets.
They talk alot about privatisation in some states but so far the test runs didn´t work that well.
