We have contract nurses and registry nurses here. Our contract nurses jump through hoops to get hired and (among other differences) have to have a business license (they are technically 'self employeed'), so they get 8-16 hours of orientation. The registry nurses get 4 hours. After that, they are the only medical person here, so I'm available for consults by phone 99% of the time. Plus, our jailers are pretty helpful and I point out the 'good ones' during orientation. Good luck--maybe you'll end up here. What part of So. Cal are you thinking about??
We ALWAYS need nurses.
