Why is NV paying so much more for correctional health RN's compared to TX? is the cost of living THAT much more in NV?
i can understand CA, but i didnt think NV would be very expensive..unless yer in Vegas..but i am talkin bout rural areas like where ELY is.

I'm a nurse who works in Ely and my opinion on why we get paid a higher rate is because we are soooooo rual and pay is an incentive to attract nurses to Ely. Also being employed by a state agency the pay scale is the same no matter where you live in Nv.

I work at the prison in Ely too. The cost of living in Ely has gone up recently but is still considerably less than Las Vegas (and California). I moved here from Montana and couldn't make a living there, the wages are low-average and the cost of living is high. I can now pay my bills, save money, prepare for retirement and have fun too. Life is great!!
My relocation to NV has been the best move of my career!!
