Re: Nursing In Corrections

HI!...howz your day? how far are you from graduating? corrections is a good field..but it's something you need to have a little bit of exposure to before you take a job....at least that's what I think...when I was in school..I wanted nothing to do with psych/jail as all i had seen was from One flew over the cuckoos nest (movie)..pretty realistic...i've been there to visit...but when i did my rotation in school i absolutely loved it!...decided then that it was for me..went on to get my cert in psych/mental health...i've worked everywhere ...a good place to get some experience is travel nursing... tough assignments but mass education.....but first,,, going out on the floor is something everyone needs... so many think that "jail" is just "lock'em up and push pills'...to the contrary... if you are there alone, you usually "are" the medical staff..many negligence suits are filed against nurses in the jails because they aren't prepared in their minds for whatever may come...i';ve been at it for 20 yrs..never ceases to surprise me!...write me back if you want some stories...see ya.......SLICK
