LOL, I am the corporate director of nurses for a private medical company in texas. I also do a lot of direct patient assessment & care despite my title.

As long as we are nurses, I don't think that will ever change.

The good news is, at least I keep my skills.
I do have several Health Services Administrators at various units that believe they are an administrator only (despite the fact that when I hired them, they were told about covering shifts during absences and prn). It is hard to get them to change their attitude about this. I have found that the administrator that gets their hands just as dirty as the nurses receives a lot more from his/her nurses in return and a lot more respect!
