Re: Where are you from?

Hi all,

I'm from NYC and i'm planning on moving there with my husband within the next year and a half. I'll graduate in Dec 07 with my BSN. Any tips for me on how to get a visa? and how is the job market for nurses in Montreal? How much do nurses get pay?

Are you fluent in French? If you aren't it doesn't matter how many vacancies there are in Montreal (and there are a LOT), because you have to pass their very difficult French language tests before they'll license you.

Nurses in Quebec start at $20.28 and top out at $30.22 an hour with a 12 rung wage scale. BSNs earn an additional $1.62 an hour. Shift differentials are $2.08 per hour for nights and 4% of basic salary for evenings and weekends, or between $0.81 and $1.21 an hour.

For information on emigrating go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.html and follow the links. Best of luck!

Re: Where are you from?

Hi Janfrn,

THanks for your reply i'm actually very fluent in french, but i'm just a bit scared that the french requirement will throw me off b/c of the med terms. I just wanted to know if the rumor is true about people moving to Montreal and getting placed in apartments and getting jobs before they get on their feet. For me it' ll be a major move b/c i've lived in NYC all my life. IF there's anything else please let me know.

THanks in advance!
