which state offers cheap application fee for NCLEX writer?

Hi,

I have a kinda silly question wanna ask you. Currently, I don't have a plan to work in states but would like to write NCLEX. I recently graduated from school, and thought it would be easier for me to write the exam rather than later. Does anyone know which state offers cheap application fee for the NCLEX writer? By the way, I took a look at florida nursing board and noticed they just increased the application fee (the fee is USD205). Well, it seems too expensive for me to apply for it cuz I have not decided to work there.

Any information will be helpful. Thanks a bunch.

Cheers

Try Nebraska state, the fee varies for the month that you apply but the highest will $77. And they will issue you a hard copy license the reason why I am saying that is that Not all the State will issue a license untill you have a Social Security Number in U.S. So when you applying make sure that they don'trequire a SSN before you apply.

A few things to consider:

Even if a state issues a license without a SSN#, most still require the SSN# to renew the license. And if the license is not renewed for a series of years, each state is specific to this; then you will be required to rewrite the NCLEX exam.

If you are not going to be coming to the US for sometime, you would be just fine writing it later on when you are going to be ready to use it. The exam that we have is not based on specifics that you were taught in school as they know that you have been tested on that already, but they are more interested in what you will be doing with the information that you learned in caring for your patients. The exam is quite different in every way from the Canadian licensing exam.

Florida also requires that you get a credentials evaluation done before they will even look at your application, many states now have that requirement, so you are looking at additional fees besides just the state charges and the NCLEX exam costs.

You should start with the state that you are interested in if you are going to proceed with testing, otherwise you will also be adding in costs to endorse to the new state.

Best of luck to you on your decision.
