Curious about clinicals!!

I am going to be entering the rpn program in the fall in Ontario. I was really wondering what the clinicals are like. I was wondering which setting the clinicals are in hospital, long term care or community. Just curious of what types of clinicals I can look forward too!! Thanks

The training in Alberta include all of what you've noted. I did rotations in LTC, med/surg, peds, maternity, psych, and the community.

Our first placement was LTC. It quickly weeds out people.

Well, I think it depends on where you go to school. When I graduated the school was doing the first semester in LTC, second and third semesters were done in the hospital in med-surg with a few days of maternity only, no peds. However, I have noticed that recently there have been students doing second or third semester in LTC. We also had to do a week in community nursing. I would simply ask at the college you are attending as they know well in advance where they will be sending students.

I did LTC, acute care, community, mental health and then complex continuing care. it depends on where you go to school and what facilities are available in your area to take students.
