The word GLOCK

Could someone please explain to me why this word is offensive? traumaRUs has denied me the right to use this word in my handle for no other reason than it is offensive.
I have carried a GLOCK ever since I obtained my permit to carry concealed and I love these firearms. Why am I not allowed to honor Mr. Gaston Glock by using his name in my handle?
Remember libs, freedom of speech before you start your anti gun rant.

I wouldn't pick a fight over this issue. Review the TOS and I think you will come to an understanding of the groundrules that we all live by while participating on the board.

Re: The word GLOCK

I am a strong proponent of the right to bear arms and I am extremely conservative. This is a private board and if the owner wants to ban me based on the use of the word GLOCK, that is fine.
We need to stand up for our right and not bow down to liberal bias against firearms or we will loose our right. That means everywhere.

Not allowing the use of a word doesn't equate with losing your rights to bear arms.

I own and use guns. As a liberal I have no desire to see any law abiding gun owner lose their right to bear arms. I am encouraging you to think about what the topic for this particular forum area is. It is Healthcare activism. I am not picking a fight with you. I am encouraging you to think before you post.

I agree. I wasn't sure where to post and in my haste I picked activism. Your also right that it probably isn't that big a deal, but being told that the word GLOCK is offensive really lit my fire.
A liberal who likes guns.....who woulda thunk it. )

Re: The word GLOCK

Why don't you PM one of the mods or the forum Admin and ask them why you can't use the name?

Also as a private forum the Admin has set the TOS and if you don't like it you can always exercise your right to not be a member.

Re: The word GLOCK

Per our Terms Of Service:
It is important to remember that this bulletin board reaches out to nurses and other readers all over the world. Our call is to be supportive, not divisive.

At signup one sees this message:

Please follow these brief rules when registering:
  1. PleaseDO NOT use your full name for your username, or any name that will be easy to identify you --- it will be seen with each post you make.
  2. PleaseDO NOT use your email address as your username.
  3. Please DO NOT put credentials like Nurse, RN or LPN in your username unless you hold these titles. ie. Members cannot call themselves "doctor, Dr, RN, LPN, LVN, Nurse, CNA, RT, MA, EMT" etc, unless you are actually licensed and/or certified as such. We reserve right to change your username per our TOS.
Our website is about NURSING and HEALTHCARE. Therefore, we do not permit usernames that could upset/inflame any segment of our membership. I sent the OP an email re username as nursing student and not allowed to use credentials he does not possess.

Nursing requires paying attention to details and non judgemental attitude when dealing with the public as a nurse. This is also how we choose to conduct our NURSING bb.

Use our Admin Help Desk for further discussion on this issue, or anytime posters desire contact Admin Team about an issue.
