I am a Union RN and we took a strike vote today. It looks as though we will be on strike next Wednesday at midnight; our hospital is pushing some pretty awful stuff at us. Wages are, of course, part of the problem, but certainly not all! We are in Sioux City, Iowa, and could use all the emotional support that anyone would be willing to share!

I worked at a place where we once approved a strike vote. But we didn't have to go out on strike. The contract offers improved after the strike vote was ratified.
It takes courage to strike. It is easier to lay down and take what the man hands out. It is hard to strike, financially, and creates uncertainty. Better to accept TEMPORARY uncertainty financial set back than to accept PERMANENTLY being under someone's oppressibe thumb.
Hold your head high on the picket line. You are doing yourself proud.
