I was thinking about how wonderful it would be to have a program at facilities where you show up for a yoga class prior to your shift. An instructor would be hired to teach a class at 0530 and 1730 at the hospital for nurses. This could be a great way to start your shift, ya know?
I am wondering if anybody has ever heard of a program such as this being implemented at nursing facilities anywhere.
I never heard of that, but the idea seems cool. I always try and get a good stretch in before my day. Stretching feels so good and it relaxes me. Some yoga classes can be intense. Everyone should try and get in a good stretch though.
I've never heard of that being done but its a good idea. Some hospitals do have fitness centers that offer yoga classes. The class times aren't always that convenient for nurses though. I do Pilates and I find that if I do it before going to work, I feel like I have more energy and don't feel as sore at the end of my shift.
I'm at a level 1 trauma center and we have a fitness center and they also have a workout/yoga studio. They offer many classes but they don't always work out for nursing staff because of the times. They will be offering evening ones but that doesn't help for preshift.
