Now's our chance to SPEAK OUT for safe nurse-to-patient staffing

Share Your Thoughts on the Nursing Shortage and its Causes

Our lawmakers need to hear from Pennsylvania nurses about the staffing crisis and the root causes of the nursing shortage. They have heard from the HMO's, the big insurance companies, and the hospital executives. It's time they heard from us. If you are interested in voicing your patient care concerns at the Speak Out, or would like to receive additional information about the event, please call 1-800-500-7850, or contact us via our website at www.pennanurses.org.

Adams Mark Hotel, Philadelphia. PA
at 6:30 p.m.
{on City Ave., at Exit 33 of I 76)

Senate Sponsor Allyson Schwartz Needs to Hear From Us

Attending will be Pennsylvania Senator Allyson Schwartz, prime sponsor of Senate Bill 1494, a bill to set minimum RN staffing ratios in Pennsylvania hospitals. The bill would require all hospitals to meet minimum RN staffing ratios; submit an annual staffing plan, developed in consultation with a majority of direct care nurses; employ an approved acuity system to address fluctuations in patient acuity; prohibit unsafe floating; and fund outreach, training, and education to bring new nurses into the profession. Sen. Schwartz needs to hear from Pennsylvania nurses about the crisis in our hospitals and the need to protect our patients. Area legislators from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives have also been invited.
