PA: Help defeat Legislation requiring CRNA Supervision

HB 823 - was introduced by Representative Civera on March 8, 2001. The overall intent of this bill is to amend the Medical Practice Act and require that certified registered nurse anesthetists in the state of Pennsylvania be supervised by a physician who is physically present in the health care facility when the anesthesia is administered. The term "supervision" in the definition of the bill means medical direction by the qualified physician, and provides for the State Board of Medicine to promulgate regulations which define medical practice. This bill was sent to the Professional Licensure Committee on March 8, 2001. This bill was re-referred to the House Appropriations Committee on May 21, re-reported as committed on June 4, 2001. House Bill 823 received final passage in the House on June 6, 2001 (196-0) and was referred to the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee on June 14, 2001. HB 823 is scheduled for Committee Review on Oct. 23, Immediate action is needed! PSNA strongly opposes this bill, Click for details!
