P.L.C. SAID IT WOULD USE A SITE IN
PENNSYLVANIA TO DEVELOP NEW WAYS TO MAKE FLU VACCINE.
GlaxoSmithKline has bought a shuttered vaccine plant in
Pa.'s Lancaster County and said it will invest at least
$100 million to buy and upgrade the 90-acre
manufacturing site previously owned by Wyeth, reported
the Inquirer. The plant offers GlaxoSmithKline a
foothold in the U.S. market for vaccine production that
it now handles exclusively abroad, while company
officials said they initially will use the plant to
develop a new technology to make flu vaccines and, if
successful, will then ramp up the site for production,
the Inquirer added.
