license renewal

I have a question regarding license renewal. What exactly is necessary to renew your license? I'm a new grad, and we never talked about this in nursing school. I see all sorts of CE credits, but how many do you need? do they have to pertain to certain topics, or will anything work? How do you prove you earned these credits? sorry to seem dumb, but I want to be prepared.

Thanks

Every state gets to make its own rules. Get in touch with your state's BON for accurate information.

Jetsetter,,, if you are licensing in Illiniois,, they dont require CEUs to renew. Most of the facilities require their own educational documentation and that is done per facility. Ill Dept of Regulation will send you your renewal in the mail the fall(november or so)prior to when it comes due(usually jan31), send your bucks and they renew. As long as you keep your address current with the Ill Dept of Regulation you will get your renewal.
