L.A. County, Calif., authorizes talks on contracts to help overhaul King/Drew

From healthleadersmedia.com:

L.A. County, Calif., authorizes talks on contracts to help overhaul King/Drew
Los Angeles County, Calif., supervisors authorized health officials to negotiate nearly $100 million in contracts to help overhaul Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center during the hospital's downsizing, including up to $85 million to subsidize as many as 90 beds for county patients at nearby private hospitals.

I can't figure out what these politicians and consultants have done with the millions and millions spent so far.
Is someone stealing money?

I have zero evidence but something is very very wrong.

NOW the are bidding for ER physicians?
They lost some of the finest, including trauma surgeons when they close the excellent trauma unot because of unsafe ICU, telemetry, and med-surg care. Unsafe floating and staffing was part of it.

AND...... this is after all the millions they paid Navigant to bring King up to JCAHO and state standards...........
Can the taxpayers of LA county demand a refund from Navigant????????
Our Board of Supes are amazing... folks in the High Desert have no access to a County Hospital and now residents in the Willowbrook area will have no specialty services ... Can they get to Harbor-UCLA, hop on the bus after you're shot I guess.
The board members have chauffers and helicopters which makes it hard for them to relate!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone needs to remind them that all county residents deserve equal access!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just where are the nearby private hospitals?

Re: L.A. County, Calif., authorizes talks on contracts to help overhaul King/Drew

WHY did they just hire consultants?
WE are the taxpayers. If they can't even keep the ERs open why should the hospital association have any credibility at all. They are just a group for keeping the profit in healthcare. What about the care?

King/Drew cases may come to L.B.
Local: Plan covering emergency, inpatient care is a response to hospital restructuring.

...In September, Centinela Freeman HealthSystem announced it would close its Inglewood ER in December - the 10th county hospital to do so in the last five years. And Downey Regional Medical Center last year announced it was considering closing its ER.
"The system is already overpromised and underdeveloped," said Lott of the Hospital Association. "We just simply do not have the capacity we need to support emergency medical services." ...
Press-Telegram - King/Drew cases may come to L.B.
And these supervisors are having new museums abd other :nice to haves" built. Can't enjoy a museum when you are dead.
