…” The top seven individuals on the list, all men, are either politicians or appointed government officials -- in other words, the powerbrokers who control the federal purse strings. A bit further down, the list is dotted with the names of quality-improvement gurus, accentuating the level of attention that the patient-safety effort has received in recent years. A dozen women associated with nursing groups were nominated for the list; eight made the cut, a clear signal that the nation's nurses are more powerful than ever before.”

Glad to see that Michael Cohen RPh --pharmacist is being recognized for his piorneering work in improving medication safety throught the US. I've been following his work since he had a column in Nursing Magazine in the early 80's.

His wife Hedy Cohen, RN, BSN, MS is also a big part of the Institute's success and a great educator!

Female or not, just glad to see some nurses on the list. It was somewhat nauseating to me to see the CEOs of some of the big for-profit companies on there. These guys are really driving up the cost of healthcare in trying to hit their numbers. If the public only "really" new what goes on behind those closed doors!!
