I found this online certification program through researching here. I am currently an LPN wishing to become a SANE nurse.
Is it necessary to be an RN? I live in Michigan.
According to the UCR website, LPN's may enroll in the class and participate in the internship and "may practice as a SANE".
I like to do research on these things prior to spending the money, only to find out that an LPN cannot qualify. I'm really getting discouraged working in LTC and have a huge interest in SANE nursing if not for personal reasons but professional interest as well.
Edited to Add:
I noticed on the CERTSANE website application that it states
"Have a minimum two years of practice as a Registered Nurse in the U.S.A. or as a first level general nurse in the country of licensure."
Am I incorrect to read it to say that "first level general nurse" could mean LPN?
While I understand an RN is necessary in almost any field of specialty, I have such a great desire to specialize in SANE nursing and am willing to complete courses for certification.
....I'm probably dreaming, right?
Thank you so much,
Please advise if you have ideas for me.
Thank you so much.
