Hi, I'm a nursing student in Canada and have been searching for information on Forensic nursing. This field has always facinated me, and I'm having a bit of difficulty finding anything useful. I came here hoping some of you would have some information to share.

Most of the information I have come across isn't Canadian so it's hard to go by. I'm more interested in the deceased side of forensic nursing....now one thing I was wondering was if any of you knew if this was easy (job availability wise) to get into or not. I'm not so keen on the SANE part of things, that's just not my thing.

I'm trying to find where in Canada courses are offered as well. I still have 3 years in my program, and then will gain experience before I actually specialize in this....so I'm assuming things will probably change by then (lol)

I'm not sure if the courses in Canada are similar to that in the America...in case I study here and work in the States, or study in the States and work in Canada....

Any help is much appreciated, whether my questions get answered, or if I get steered in the right direction.

i've searced for programs in forensic nursing in canada, but all i've been able to come up with are sane programs. i'm sure you have this link and if you do, i suggest contacting one or more of these entities for information on a forensic nursing program:

bear in mind, many of these programs incorporate the sane, but that doesn't mean you will do this only. check out the sticky thread i've created at the top of this forum for other links to educative avenues. i'm also fairly certain the courses in canada are very similar if not identical to the ones in the u.s. it will be the laws that are different.
