Wayne State University here in Detroit has a graduate certificate in Forensic Investigation for RNs, police officers, or anyone interested in the program. There is currently a Forensic Investigations degree program in the planning stages, I will keep everyone informed who is interested. I am currently an RN student and I work for the local P.D. as a crime scene forensic technician, forensic nursing will allow me to combine the two careers I love. I plan on working as a nurse coroner/death investigator.

Xavier University in Cinncinati, OH is starting a graduate forensic nursing program this fall (01). I was taking distance learning thru them from Gonzaga University in WA. Should be a good program, and the other option they will offer is a Masters in Criminal Justice to go with it if interested.

The School of Nursing at Duquesne University announces the Master of Science in Nursing with a Forensic Nursing specialization. Students will be accepted into the program beginning in the Summer term of 2002. This program prepares graduates to practice in multiple areas of Forensics - sexual assault nurse, nurse coroner, nurse investigator, forensic psychiatric nurse, forensic correctional/institutional nurse, clinical nurse specialist, legal nurse consultant or expert witness, among others. The program originated out of a collaborative effort with the Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and the Law based in the Law School at Duquesne University.

Hey 4n6 tech,

I'm also interested in that career path, so how do you get a job as a Crime Scene Forensic Tech? I'm an RN who wants to do the same. At least that would be a foot in while I'm trying to get my MSN.
