Forensic Nursing

I'm really considering pursuing forensic nursing. I know that you have to become a RN first. I'm planning on going to a community college and get my associate degree. Then transfering to a university and pursuing my bachelor's degree in forensic nursing. Do you know any good universities or colleges that I can achieve my bachelor's degree? I reside in New Jersey. I'm willing to pursue it on-line if I can find one without any scams. Any suggestions? Please help. I will really appreciate it.

Hello and welcome to allnurses.com

Glad to have you with us. Good to read of your interest in forensic nursing.

Here is a link to allnursingschools.com where you can find a few RN-BSN programs online:

http://www.allnursingschools.com/fea...ine-rn-to-bsn/

There are no forensic BSN programs, however. Once you've become BSN, then you can pursue a Forensic Nursing program or your MSN in forensics.

Here is one program in NJ with post BSN forensic certificate:

I have one more question. I reside in New Jersey, very close to New York and I'm searching to see if there's any jobs available in my area; there's not any. Where can I possibly work after I complete my schooling? I received some helpful responses last time. I look forward to hearing from you again. Thanks....

I meant one more question, rather than no more questions.

You mean after you finish your forensic nursing training?

You can work in local law enforcement departments, with some federal law enforcement departments, state departments, county coroner office. Also, many hospitals employ the forensic nurse especially in their emergency departments.

Good luck.

Thank you so much. I guess that I'm going to have to go directly to these places because on the internet I can't find job listing in forensic nursing. Do you know of any sites?

You will just have to research your immediate area for these jobs, kaylarip; local county/state. I don't off the top of my head have links to jobs.

Just keep your eyes open. When you are nearing completion of your forensic nursing program, you can really start looking. But, as I said, hospitals hire in this area as well. So, you can always check availability in your local hospital ED.

Again, thank you for your help. It's been well worth it!
