Autopsy assisting?

I am currently a CMA ( who lurks on this we page) and am wanting to know who generally assists with autopsies at a medical examiners office or in a hospital?
Are the generally hired only to do this or are they lab techs, nurses,...?
Any feed back would be helpful.

Thanks,

prowlingMA

Hello, prowlingMA

Normally, the ones I've seen are Medical Examiner Assistants (physicians). Some have Autopsy Technicians.

And, there is the Forensic Nurse who often works as an Autopsy Assistant.
