foot/hand care

I want to clarify what steps are needed for the hand/foot care. How long do you have to soak the pt's hand/foot?

Also, for partial bed bath,m is it necessary to put deodorant on the pt's axillary? Do we need to ask them if they want it or not?

I always offer deodrant. It's up to them if they want it or not. Always ask them!

I soak feet for around 5-10 minutes. If the person is alert and sensible then leave them with their feet in the bowl whilst you do something else.

Are you asking for the purposes of your state test, or for real life purposes? Because in real life, very rarely do I have the time to do things like soak anyone's feet, and they just get scrubbed and their nails clipped with their baths. For the sake of the test, I'd double check to see if your book lists a specific time, otherwise just a few minutes.

As for deodorant, ask the alert and oriented people. People who AREN'T alert and oriented, I don't ask, I just say something like "I"m going to put your deodorant on now", or I'll ask them to help raise their arms if able.
