- Aug 22, '12 by christyyrawrHi guys!
I actually attended Miami Dade back in 2007 and graduated with an AA in Psychology. I am currently in my last semester at FIU and I am graduating with a Bachelors in Psychology. I was interested in the RN program at Miami Dade (the accelerated program), but by the looks of it all of your GPA's are extremely high up there. I currently have a 2.875 in FIU, but when I graduated Miami Dade I had a 3.49 GPA. I have no taken any of the natural sciences or exams currently so I'm not sure where this GPA is computed from, my AA or BA. This semester at FIU I am actually taking Human Biology BSC 2085 with a lab and Clinical Physiology for Health professions HSC 3549. Can someone give me some direction? I want to make sure I get into this program at Miami Dade, but I feel a little intimidated by all of your GPAs and scores.
Christy - Aug 22, '12 by Cold StethoscopeYour overall GPA doesn't matter, as long as it meets the minimum (2.5, I think). Your admission is contingent upon your competitive score, in which your pre-req GPA has a weight as 40%, and your TEAS V score has a weight of 60%.
These are the science pre-reqs:
BSC2085 A&P 1
BSC2085L A&P 1 lab
BSC2086 A&P 2
BSC2086L A&P 2 lab
CHM1033 chemistry
CHM1033L chemistry lab
MCB2010 microbiology
If you do well in those classes, do okay on the TEAS V, and have no issue with the background or drug check, you are in.
From what I've seen, if you have a 3.5 in your pre-reqs and a TEAS V score in the high 70's, you should have no problem. (In fact, you'd probably have a good margin.) - Aug 22, '12 by studybudy12Hello my nursing classmates,
Has everyone done there Fundies reading?? Or Assesment? I need help with note taking, Im a little rusty. Thanks in advance. - Aug 22, '12 by swansonplaceThank you so much. Turns out I can work as a graduate nurse in a hospital without the LPN exam. Thank you.
Just curious if working as a CNA helped you or will help you to get a job as an RN in your hospital. - Aug 23, '12 by yadi87Quote from studybudy12ive done the fundies reading, basically right now im not taking any notes just absorbing the material since i dont know what she will place focus on in class, until i see what points in the chapter she emphasizes there really isnt much good to be done in blind note taking. just read get a feel for the material so when she goes over it next week it wil be like a refresher.Hello my nursing classmates,

Turns out I can work as a graduate nurse in a hospital without the LPN exam. Thank you.

Yesterday i bathe the dog, ate breakfast on the porch, went swimming and fired up the grill with the hobby and enjoyed a few drinks. Yes im packing it all in, god knows when monday comes if ill have time after that to sleep. The campus is getting busy again, the bookstore is finally seeing some action. The lab coat doesnt fit too good, so i got one elsewhere for 18 bucks and took it to the bookstore to get embroidered, cost 14.99 and 2 weeks, it comes up to the same price, but it fits. They stopped the uniform store from doing it because of copy write issues, so yes i had no choice. amazon had the job for supplying the books, im not buying everything on the list, ill decide when school starts but i got somethings to start with, plus i had some books already, such as, the dictionary and drug guide. im also very afraid to buy used books because of missing cd and codes, so those books with additional components i have to get them new and in plastic. i am no longer interested in getting the medium size pants because i tried it and it was too big so the small is close but will do. i also got the same color pants at the uniform store for less money, ill probably use it for clinicals since, thats when the roominest and pocket expansion will really come in handy. so clinical calculation is up first and its going to be a review for me but i still got the book just in case there are specific assignment given from that book, if not its going right back, ill use my old book, which we also didnt use one day in the lpn program. Hopefully we get tons of handouts. i finished all the ati assignments it takes a while and the information is ,redundant and the test has nothing to do with the lecture, its all knowledge you would have to know previously, drug interaction, fundementals....etc. acheive took me 2hrs because i watch all the videos, its time consuming so dont procrastinate, i did it the same day we did the ati test, got it out of the way. well good luck to everyone, let the games begin
