Miami Dade College (MDC) Fall 2012 Full-time/Part-time Nursing program - Page 2
Register Today!- Mar 23, '12 by mjl88Quote from StephaniefuturenurseHey Stephanie,Hello, I am currently studying and getting things done to apply at MDC and BC. I only have a 3.3
in my sciences, I guess I partied to much... I'm very nervous of not getting into any program. I love nursing, all my sisters are nurses and it would be horrible and devastating if I don't get in. I would be applying to the Generic Full time Fall 2012 program, I'm not picky of where I get in. But I've been reading the other post, and does anyone think I can get in if I get a good enough score on the TEAS, also is the BC program really that horrible how people say it is??
thank you,
Stephanie
I think you can still get in with a good score on the TEAS. Don't forget, the selection criteria is 60% TEAS and 40% GPA. I believe MDC uses a competitive score to figure it out. For example, my GPA is 3.7 and TEAS is 85.3....my competitive score would be --> 85.3 x .6 = 51.18 + 37 (just move decimal one place to the right) = 88.18.
So if you were to get a 90 on the TEAS, your comp score would be = 90 x .6 = 54 + 33 = 87
I would like my chances with that but again, it all depends on the applicant pool every semester. I would also apply to the part-time program as well to have more of a chance.
Good luck!Stephaniefuturenurse likes this. - Mar 24, '12 by EMMUNOZHello everyone!!
I already sent in my application for the Fall Program...how do you know the gpa for just your science classes?? - Mar 24, '12 by mjl88Quote from EMMUNOZHey Emmunoz, the way I figured is A=4 points, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0. Add up all the points for your science classes (so an "A" in a 3 credit course would be 12 points) and divide by the total credits of science classes.Hello everyone!!

If you don't mind, could you share your grades/GPA and your TEAS score?? Also what track you're applying to? That way it gives an idea to others out there in the same boat.
Thanks! - Mar 26, '12 by @ngelHello Everyone,
I will be applying for the Fall Generic program. I have a 4.0 gpa and received a 76 on my teas so my total
entrance score is 85.18. I'm wondering if I should take the teas 2nd attempt.Just wanted some opinions on
my scores and recent cut off totals. Thank you. - Mar 26, '12 by mjl88Quote from angel sulaimanHi Angel,Hello Everyone,

You have a great GPA and a good TEAS score.....however I would recommend taking it again as I hear with MDC that the average cutoff for the TEAS is around 80. Again, this all depends on the applicant pool. But if you're able to, I personally would take it again and try to break that 80 threshold.
Good luck! - Mar 31, '12 by EMMUNOZI have a 3.6 gpa and my teas score was a 72(which is horrible). I can't take it another time until July
. I am also trying to apply to dade medical college has anyone looked into that program or heard of anyone in it??

I think everyone one this thread is applying to Dade Medical College. For the nursing program, there are 3 different tracks, Accelerated, Generic Full-time, and Generic Part-time. It's a tough program but definitely doable. Which track did you apply for? - Apr 2, '12 by EMMUNOZHi mjl88,
I applied for the part time program so I could still work since I do not qualify for financial aid.
I did apply for Dade Medical College its another school that starts nursing programs almost every month. It is seperate from MDC I was just wondering if anyone had heard of it... - Apr 2, '12 by mjl88Quote from EMMUNOZHey Emmunoz,Hi mjl88,
