I have my Advanced Med-Surge Critical Thinking Exam coming up and was wondering if anyone can give me an idea as to the format of the exam - is it like the one in Med-Surge?
Thanks
I've been reading all your post and I like them - Jul 31, '09 by ra-ma13Quote from Jessica1024Hi Jessica , I am also a mother and I will start rn generic on August 2009, any advice to new students?Well I have very limited time to study, because I have kids so in the afternoons I do not really study, and well...weekends are the only real time I have with them and my husband. I am not having a problem with Med surg, I know it is hard, but I like it. Where I have a problem is in pharm, but everyone is doing bad, and I do not believe that it is the students fault.
I do not know what is going on in the nursing department, but they can not get the whole pharm thing together. Hopefully they make up their mind, and fix the problems that have been occuring so far. Oh and second semester in clinicals is soooooo much better....long and more exhausting, but better.
thks - Aug 1, '09 by gradRN2007be glad to pass, forget being a 4.0 now
study hard, pharm gets easier when you use it and I LOVE IT
graduated 2006 from MDC transition program and work at memorial
its the best career change i could of made
best of luck to everyone....i did all my studying at barnes and noble because you can use the book there and put it back
headphones and the cafe, can't get better also a study group helps but only study with people that study like you do, someone will sit down and expect you to teach them everything right before a test..........ra-ma13 likes this. - Aug 1, '09 by Jessica1024Study and readt and do ots of practice questions from ATI and other programs. Honestly I never thought that nursing school could be so hard, but it is intense. I have never been through so much because of school. Just know that you have to celebrate and relax in between exams! Do not be on stress mode all the time. Try to take it wasy and have fun when you do pass a test. Every small thing should be celebrated and enjoyed. Any free time should used to the fullest. It is intense but it is also doable. I am going into my last semester and I am very excited to be graduating in Dec. Believe me before you know it you all will be graduating too.ra-ma13 likes this.
- Oct 20, '09 by henne21Did you start the transitional program, if so do you have the syllabus because I just received my acceptance letter today and I want to start studying. I would greatly appreciate it
- Oct 20, '09 by henne21Quote from MagnesiuMi was accepted into the accelerated program for fall 08 with a gpa of 3.77. there are a lot of immunizations, etc., to get: two consecutive tb tests (within three months of the school start date), hep b, mmr, varicella (chicken pox....not enough to have the disease), a drug screen, a physical, current cpr (has to be valid through the entire time you're in school-i.e., not expire in the middle of a term) etc....all of which you have to pay for. my insurance refused to cover them because they are "for school"....therefore, i'm nickel-and-dime-ing it.....one test here, one test there.
speaking of tests, the reading test is pretty simple stuff if you've read anything in english recently, you should be okay.
if you have any other questions, let me know! i'll keep everyone posted as the program gets under way. :-)
Hell, I'd like to know are you in the transitional or the accelerated? If you are in the transitional, how is it? DO you have the syllabus? Thank you I would greatly appreciate any info you can give me. Anybody else in MDC now that can give us newcomers some feedback on your experience to date?
I'd wish akspudus would make a cameo and tell us on where he is now. I'd love to know what his nursing experience is like now. Also, curious on his gpa upon graduation or any pointers about succeeding in the MDC program.

Any suggestions on what we can do to get prepared for the 1st semester? Perhaps, freshen up on A&P or Micro or basic math? Or start reading the nursing books in advance like fundamentals?
