MDC College Bridge/Transitional schedule - Page 2

....I am in the online transitional program at
MDC, Semester 1 out of 3. I work fulltime, the
transitional online program gives you that flexibility of studying whenever
YOU can without having to drive to campus.
The workload is just as intense as the face to face program. You get weekly
reading assignments and chapter quizzes. Midterms are proctored so you have
to take them at a MDC campus. The clinical hours have to be done in
person...but they do offer Saturday clinical rotations...except for the
Psych rotation..it has to be done in the weekdays/mornings.
No regrets so far and glad that MDC has this program available.
Hope this helps....and for those that think it not possible...it is....just stay
motivated and it can be done.
Let me know if you need more info.
Thanks so much Hnic0522,
I really appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to answer my question. I went ahead and signed up for the bridge online option. Now I'm just waiting for orientation. I would like to get a jump start on reading, but I dont know where to start. Would you mind providing info regarding which classes I would be required to take during the 1st semester, also the required books for the 1st semester as well? I would be most appreciative. You mentioned that the tests are proctored, does this mean that I would have to make arrangements with the testing center for each proctored exam, or is it a scheduled event where everyone in my assigned group would have to show up to take the exams in a classroom? I ask only because I work full time days, and my employer is NOT very flexible when it comes to variations in my schedule.
My other concern with online is that you don't get the benefit of the lectures and the ability to ask on the spot questions when further clarication is needed. How do you know what to study in order to prepare for exams? Do you study everything, or are certain outlines provided for the exams? Do you feel that you are at a disadvantage in any way with the online option? Please advise.

Hi Carisma1101,
I've been accepted into MDC transitional for Fall 2012 online & face 2 face. I've been looking for some answers to help me decide on which would be best for me. I'm leaning towards online bcuz i need to work. Based on your last thread you decided to go with online. Can you give me any feedback on how it is going for you online? Do you having any regrets? Do the online instructors prepare you with notes/powerpoints/outlines for the midterm/exams/quizzes? Do they give you unnecessary busy work or postings on the discussion board? Do you feel at a disadvantage? Are you in your last semester?
I really would appreciate your advice I don't know anyone who's in online bridge right now.
Thanks. - Jun 14, '12 by MiamiEId also like to know differences on the online and face to face programs. my friend just got in for Fall 2012. Ill be applying for Spring 2013. I should get in, but I still have to pass the NACE.
- Jun 14, '12 by MiamiEAlso if anyone is reading this be aware that you can take an MGF math instead of MAC1105 if youre having trouble passing it. I transferred over my MGF1106 from FIU and they honored it as a substitute. Im taking my STA, Micro Lab, and Nutrition now so I can do the BSN as soon as Im done with the AS and not have to take any pre-reqs.
- Aug 2, '12 by carisma1101Hi Dizzy, it's been a while since I've had a chance to log onto this site. I would imagine that by now you probably have already chosen your option. Online is a pretty rigorous program. If you selected this option, read, read, read, and prepare to tech yourself. Assignments are listed with due dates and you are responsible for the rest. During orientation, they will go out of their way to make you believe that the online option was deigned for working people; however, this can't be any further from the truth. Many of your clinicals will be held during the week days for example, psych clinicals, you will be there for 2 full days (Wednesday & Thursday) during that rotation, expect to come onto campus for all midterms and final exams, many of which you will have to take at the Med campus, during the time selected by your instructor. Many of the books required for the class will never be used. Depending on your instructor, you may be required to do pre-assignment (this means that you are required to go to your clinical site the day before opt our clinicals in order to be assigned a patient for the next day... You must write up the Atho, nursing interventions, labs, info on meds etc... (detailed care plan). This info must be handed to your professor by 7 am on each clinical day. We are on break until the next semester begins at the end of the month, if you have additional questions, please let me know.
- Oct 22, '12 by MCRMSHi Everyone,I just accepted the online option.I was told that clinicals were on Saturdays. Now I'm concerned to read that clinicals are held during the week also. I also work M-F 7A to 3P. Do they work with with you at all on this?

I'm about to send you a private message (if I can), but first I'm attempting this medium. Do you think that I can come speak to you? I have a few questions.
