  1. @ Lynn12, are you positive you friend got into the FAMU SON with a 2.8 GPA or just admitted into the university? The SON do not even look at GPA's below 3.5. Their program is very competitive, for their 50 seats sping and fall.
  2. @RN in Florida, yes I'm positive that was her GPA when she got into the FAMU RN program because I asked her to show me her transcript becuase I didn't believe her. The thing is that she was already in the RN program and she decided that the program was to difficult half way through and graduated with another major. Finally two years later she decided to reapply for the RN program to try again, she was only missing a couple of classes because when she got out of the program she was able to take the state test to get her LPN. She just graduated last year. Good luck to every one
  3. yeah i have a friend who got in with a 2.8 gpa, but that was a few years ago. he actually dropped out of the program 1/2way thru, and has since graduated with a degree in healthcare management, but he did say that they have since made it harder to get in the SoN. i spoke to one of the counselors, she told me that they didn't admit anyone with less than a 3.3 for fall 2011. i submitted an application for spring 2012, and i had better than a 3.0, but less than a 3.5, so i guess we'll see what happens. good luck to all else who applied, i hope to see ya'll there!
  4. @ Camille 323, I truly hope you get in too. Its too bad, they only have 50 seats to fill for fall and spring. I hope you have applied to other programs for back-up just in case. Good luck to you.

  5. @ RN in FL, thank you! i really hope i get in too. it was the only program that i applied to, but i told myself that if i didn't get in, i would just go back to active duty, since they are now recruiting for my job until early next year. hopefully it doesn't come to that, but if it does, then i'll take that route.
  6. i see. Have you tried to talk to the recruiter at FAMU, and enter thru the Army ROTC, where u can get commissioned after graduating??? They have seats set aside for people that want to enter the Army Nurse Corp upon graduating. Speak to a Capt *** at FAMU. My daughter was going to enter that route, but unfortuneatly, her gpa was too low, to apply. If you already have army experience, that is great. You must past the PT test to qualify. You get a stipend and everything. You have to go to LTDC at Ft Bragg, this summer, and then you get your commission after you grad in 2014. I take it you have all of your pre reqs?? She marched in the "100" for 2 yrs, and didn't study or take her pre-nursing seriously. Thats how I know the scoop about what they accept.

  7. no ma'am, i'm actually still in the air force, i'm just a reservist now. i'm hoping to get a commission with the af after i complete my degree. i actually get a stipend now, but that's because i'm getting post-9/11 gi bill money (which is amazing, by the way). an army friend of mine suggested the prgm that i believe you're talking about, but i believe he said i have to alrdy be accepted into a nursing prgm to be considered. i guess i'll find out soon enough.
  8. Hey there everyone. My name is Hailey and I applied for FAMU Spring 2012 Regular Prelicensure Nursing Program. I just received an email 2 days ago for the interview. I was wondering if anyone else has received an interview. I also am worried about the time that I am going to be allowed to move from Jax to Tally. I have been looking at student housing, does anyone have any suggestions or know anyone that needs a roomate? My interview is Dec 2nd!
  9. @Hailey, congrats on your interview. Is it only the interview, or did u actually get in??? Out of curiosity, are you pre-nursing only, or getting into the professional aspect of the program. If I may ask, what was your gpa? Don't think it will be bad to find housing. Google "student housing solutions, tons will come up.

Hey there, thank you! it is only the interview so far. It is Dec 2nd and I'm not sure when we will find out the results. I am applying for the nursing school. I go to UNF right now I am done with my AA and all my pre-req's. So I guess that means I would be getting into the professional program. There isnt an interview for pre-nursing I think thats just what they code your major as before you actually get into the Nursing program after app and interview. My pre-req GPA is 3.75, but because I slacked off my first year of college and my overall GPA at UNF is 3.14, I dont know if FAMU calculates it differently.
