Young Nursing Student With No Experience

So i am about two weeks away from starting my nursing school journey and so many thoughts are swirling threw my head. I have been hearing horror stories the nursing program I plan on attending.So many students dropping out or failing their first semester.Not even making it to Nursing process two. Then the cost of all of my books and tuition are overwhelming since I am a dependent student the only Financial Aid I qualify for are loans. Its really frustrating and I have not even started yet! I am only 20 years old and I do not have work experience in the medical field, which is a big disadvantage. I only worked retail for less than 6 months. I did take HOSA in high and gained a little experience at a nursing home but nothing major. I am scared out of my mind. Being one of the youngest students in the program has me doubting myself. Is it to early for me to be in nursing school? Will I be able to compete with students older than me with more life experience? I am a bundle of nerves right now.

First off, congratulations on being accepted to a nursing program! Nursing school is not easy, you really need to apply yourself. But do not think negatively...give it your all and you will succeed! You do not need medical experience to start nursing school; you will learn everything along the way, and you will always find yourself learning something new in the field of medicine. No, it is not too early to begin...I just graduated this past May, and I am in my early 20's... most of my classmates were also in their early to late 20's. This is going to be a very exciting part in your life...apply yourself to the max, learn as much as you can, and enjoy it!

I started nursing school at 19 and just graduated in April. I had no prior medical experience (I was a babysitter). It was hard, but being fresh out of high school I think really helped. I was already used to studying from that so it was just a matter of changing the material.
