While were on the topic of Physician's Regional in Naples, I would place the Pine Ridge division on the worst list - for lack of a better word, the nurses were shady. Best hospital in the Ft. Myers/Naples area would with no hesitation be Gulf Coast Medical Center.

From what I hear, Celebration Hospital went through a brief time when the staffing situation was not-so-good, but since then has been good.

I personally wouldn't call the Town of Celebration "Disney Happy", but more of like Hilton Head (Beaufort, SC) without the beach and without nearly as bad traffic but in a more relaxed manner.

How is the Mayo Clinic? How are the doctors?

Deb, why did your family member go to St. Vincent's instead of Mayo Clinic for the hear problems (bypass?)?

Comparison of Baptist, Celebration, Mayo Clinic, St. Vincint's, and good Ft. Myer's PT departments?

Please state your opinions and experiences from all perspectives (staff, patient, family member of patient, and doctor).

    TIA.

I can speak for the hospitals in Naples. NCH is actually being sued because of some bad behavior towards nurses interested in a Union. I have worked as a nurse and been a patient, would not recommend either!! Understaffed, dirty, treat nurses like...pay is awful. I have heard better about Phy. Regional have been a patient there and would choose to go there again(hopefully never be in the bed again!!) Nurses seem happy.
What floor did you work at NCH? was there as a traveler on 4NE in 2002. I thought the facility was clean and Dr.'s were respectful but the work was backbreaking. Wouldn't commit to another season there.

Sarasota Memorial is good, and Manatee Memorial in Bradenton where I did clincials was pleasant.

Stay FAR, FAR away from Blake Hospital, and Doctor's Hospital. They are a nightmare... Owned by HCA.

I was born and raised in S. FLorida. I have worked at a Tenet hospital, a Memorial hospital, and at Jackson (main campus), and an HCA facility in Northe Florida. Yes, it truely depends on your experience on the specific unit. But Tenet and HCA, are backbreaking facilities. And its usually across the boards-from ER to OB to OR to PACU to M/S.

The one comment was true; FL is on the low paying side, especially the less populated areas, and the cost of living is ridiculous!!! That's y I started traveling, lol!!!

i have worked at tenet health, baptist health, the university of miami and the public health trust ( jackson memorial hospital). tenet was not bad. the pay was better then the other 3, the enviornment was family oriented, but i worked at coral gables hospital. now palmetto has a ridiculous number of nursing jobs open but that is not a good sign. beware of a mass exodus that leaves a hospital so bare. um has poor pay but good benefits, especially if you want to continue your education. jmh has good pay and great benefits but it is very political and those who have been there for a while no longer think that they have to work to keep their jobs so you are very often doing your job and others. south florida has terrible pay and alot of competition with all the nursing schools in the area. i have spoken alot about my baptist experience and it is summed up in, "do not believe the hype". you have to decide what you want and what you will accept. what is important to you and what are you flexible on. if you know that ahead of time, the job search is much easier.
i am moving to orlando next year, if that tells you anything about what i think.

I would also say " Don't believe the hype" about Baptist...

Has anyone worked for the FL medical staffing? They staff the HCA hospitals in Tampa/ St. Pete area. I am moving to the area next week and they have told me they could keep me busy.

    Gadsden County, Florida.

The worst H*** HOLE I have ever worked in, in all my years of nursing. The experience made me give up hospital nursing forever!

That hospital is closed; not sure what the exact reason was, I think is was financial.
