i have been in a roller:lol2: coaster these past few months. first i was going to attend robert morgan, for the lpn prgm because of the waiting time on the rn prgm. but then changed my mind. i decided to apply to mdc. i have a ba degree and two yrs of biology, my gpa is standing at a 3.1. i wonder what are my chances of getting in the program in mdc, wheter its generic or accelerated.

thanks

feel free to share any advice.

Wow don't scare me. At MDC you have been rejected? My GPA is a 3.1, On May 7th I will take my last requirement Chemistry, hopefully this can help me get in. I am also taking First Aid, just to boost the GPA at Leats to a 3.4 or 3.5. Where is Sheridan

Every year we were told that at least 2,000 applicants to the Nrsg program and only around 300-400 gets in because it's very competitive. I know someone from 2 semesters ago that has a GPA of 3.4 but did not get in.

So if you can boost your grades you have a better chances of getting in. In my class I know that mostly are on the 3.6 and above. Good luck!

This is crazy, I know people in MDC that have gotten in with a 3.0, you know I guess it is just luck!!!!

ok people i let you know how this gpa thing works. ok if you want to enter to the generic program you have to have a great gpa better than 3.5 in order to qualified if u want to take the aceletare or lpn - rn it is more simple because the aplications are not as high as the generic so u can aply even with 3.0 so better boost your gpa if u want to take the generic before you aply. i know is hard my gpa now is 3.15 so i am trying to bbost it a little

Now you need a 3.81 GPA or higher to get into to MDC's nursing program. It's really tough.

You can't boost your GPA with classes that aren't prerequisites. They only look at the GPA for the classes that are required. The 2 are separated. I know this for a fact. I graduated from this program last December and over the course of 2 years I became good friends with many of the professors. I've had many conversations with them about the selection criteria because it is so misunderstood. If you could boost your GPA with other classes, then people would take easy electives to make up for not so great grades in core classes like Chem, A&P, etc...I'm sorry guys but that just doesn't work. I was accepted into the Fall program of 2008, my GPA was a 4.0. The selection committee looking at applicants for the 09/10 weren't going to accept anything lower than a 3.8. There are too many applicants in the pool each year. If 2000 people apply and they only have room for 400. They are only going to take the top 400. They have to, so that they can stay accredited. Hope this cleared up some misconceptions. Good luck guys!

That is very true because I spoke with an Admissions counselor at MDC's Medical Campus and this is what they told me as well. You need to get A's because even one B can screw your chances of getting into a very competitive nursing program.
