Got the following email:

Application: Summer 2011 BSNUR by Mackenzie C McDonald

Thank you for your application to the Summer 2011 upper division program. We have reviewed your application and have determined that your pre-requisite courses are met and that your GPA meets the minimum to be considered. Therefore, we have changed your application status and have moved your name to the eligible applicant list. The final list will be reviewed and applicants will be chosen after the March 15 deadline, so you can expect a final acceptance or denial decision by email 3-4 weeks after the deadline (late March/early April). Please remember: if you took classes outside USF, it is your responsibility to send transcripts showing those grades to undergraduate admissions so they can be calculated into the GPA no later than the deadline. Thank you.

Now all I can do is wait, wish me luck!

Hey DDoris I applied for upper division for summer of 2011 last week. I can't wait till they make a decision. :uhoh3: My overall GPA is 3.9. I have one B in my prerecs. I volunteer at a hospital in patient care. I have also volunteered in other areas as well. So I hope this will be enough to get in I don't know what else I can do.

Good Luck hopefully we both get in. I think you are a lock with that GPA and volunteer experience. But you never know. When I went to orientation up there they said that people with GPA's of 3.3 were getting in because of experience and writing sample. So I don't really know what else you can do at this point.

Yeah, I was probably that person you are talking about with a 3.4, but great experience and possibly a not- bad writing sample. But I'm in the accelerated program. Good luck!!! Get ready for busy 10 week summer semester.

Congratulations, on making it. Do you know what is the average GPA/volunteer experience they usually look for?

I applied!

I have a 3.96 pre-req GPA so I hope they see I'm serious about nursing. My overall is lower (3.61) since I started off in a major (biomedical sciences) that didn't interest me like nursing does. However, I've been getting A's ever since switching to pre-nursing! That has to count for something.

I remember hearing that a 3.6 GPA is good to be "competitive", but if you have strong healthcare experience or a strong statement of intent, I'd think that would help make up for a lower GPA

Does anyone have any idea what the average cut offs are for Fall? Thanks :)

Found here: http://health.usf.edu/nocms/publicaffairs/usfhealthfactsheet.pdf

USF NURSING:

Students: 1,344 BS*; 641 MS*; 71 PhD, DNP*;

66 certificate students

Average GPA of entering students: 3.7 BS;

3.5 MS; 3.6 PhD; 3.8 DNP

Applicants for the BS programs: 1,498 apps. for 159 seats (9 to 1)

I have also applied! I hope that we get in. I currently have a 3.9 overall GPA with a 3.88 nursing GPA. I have been doing hours in a doctors office for a while now and I have received much experience from it. The waiting process is making me insane!!

I don't live at USF now so its going to be very stressful because Summer session will come so fast! Does anyone have any good housing tips (on campus, off campus, etc)???

Hope to hear back from you all soon. :) GOOD LUCK!!

Strive4Success, with your grades and experience, you sound like you're in great shape. I wouldn't stress too much! Where are you applying from?

Well I am a student at USF but only taking an online class for this semester...

But I am transferring from Florida Atlantic University.
