I'll be applying if I'm not admitted to UF, UNF and UCF! Prereq gpa of 3.7, 93 on the teas, and terrible at interviewing so we'll see how that goes lol. Best of luck to you!

Good to know. Does UCF have an essay? I have been waiting for the application to open up.

I don't believe so! I think they just base their decision off of GPA/TEAS score, which is pretty terrifying

Why terrifying? Do you really not think your scores are competitive? I would be shocked if everyone getting into UCF ALL had 3.7+ and 93+ TEAS. They do post their average admitted student range, you clearly fall within that. I wouldn't worry too much.

USF gives interviews based off GPA, so it's pretty much the same thing.

I hope everyone gets in somewhere. My 1st choice is USF, since I live in Tampa. I know it's competitive (that word almost seems pointless these days, every school is "competitive"), but I have a 4.0 pre req GPA so I'm hoping that is what they place the highest weight on. My 1st degree GPA is nothing to sneeze at (3.65) but it seems like EVERYONE has immaculate grades.

I am applying for this coming summer. Hopefully my GPA isn't too bad. I finished a bachelors in allied health sciences with honors and my GPA was 3.51, but my USF degree works shows a 3.4 GPA... I don't get the calculation at all' I finished my microbiology class with 3.67 GPA from Johns Hopkins!
Perhaps the fact that I am not coming out of high school counts (I am 40 years old).
Do you have any other option for Tampa area?
I am a military wife, moving back to Tampa this year, and I will need a plan B if I can't get into this program.

Hey Mamallama! Sorry I didn't reply back before.

My first degree BS is also seemingly a lower GPA at USF than it was at my first institution? My overall GPA with my first degree was a 3.68 (my last two years were almost a 3.8) and at USF it transferred over as a 3.55? My guess is maybe they don't transfer ALL of the credits. Luckily with my pre reqs it brought it back up to 3.65.

As for options in the Tampa area? You have Hillsborough Community College, St Pete College, and University of Tampa. I'm not sure if being a military wife will afford you any special opportunity, I have never looked into it because I'm not in that situation at all.

UT wasn't an option for me because I refuse to pay private tuition for anything, but you may want to look into it. I don't believe they have an accelerated program, but I do know they required chemistry, which unfortunately I didn't get a chance to take as it didn't work with my full time work schedule. I took what I could, which left me with biology. I actually really wanted to take chem.

I think St Pete College has a weird ethics class requirement, which I didn't have, so I won't be applying there. I'm also not a Pinellas county resident.

HCC would be a good option for you. It's an associate's degree, but you can always bridge over. It's the longer route (which would be a bummer considering you and I already have our BS degrees), but it's a path nonetheless.

    Good luck!

    Thank you!
I looked into both options for the locals community college and I decided to apply for both. My GPA for the prerequisites they want is actually good: 3.7 and 3.67.
Nutrition, psychology and statistic was the classes that I finished with a B, so, that placed me behind with a lower GPA for USF (since they require all those prereq)...
So, even knowing the ASN will take longer to complete (6 months more) I will give it a chance. I've been working so hard during the past years that I simply refuse to give up. Later on I can bridge to a masters, after all I already have a bachelors degree anyway!

Hey everyone. I'm surprised there's not more discussion on this thread seeing as we're only a month away from interview invitations.
I hope we hear from more applicants so we all can see how stack up. I'm worried about my pre-req GPA. I felt confidant until I found out they only look at 4 classes instead of all those listed on the USF site. A&P 1 and 2 (lectures only), Micro, and Stats. So this brought my pre-req GPA down to a 3.69 because of a B in micro. My first degree was a BS in biomedical sciences...3.85 GPA. I don't know which GPA is weighted heavier when they consider applicants. I assume the cumulative/overall. Too bad they don't look at work and volunteering history. :/

Does anyone know when they might send out interview invitations to those selected?

I'd be shocked if your GPA wasn't competitive. I know it seems like everyone and their mother has a 4.0, but I just don't think that's the case. I'm sure you'll be fine.

I have to assume we won't hear back until after the deadline. However, if interviews are going to be late March, I like to think they will give us at least a few weeks to request time off work/make time for the interview. It seems pretty tight considering some students will have to find time off work/book travel.

In terms of what is weighted "more"? I'm really not sure. I have asked that question and never really got a straight answer. They just say they base it off the two GPA's (Pre req and cumulative). Maybe they use one as the tie breaker? Maybe it changes year to year depending on the applicant pool?

    Hi all!!

I also applied for USF's summer absn program and I am absolutely petrified. I have a 3.78 overall gpa but not sure about my pre req gpa. When will we hear about interviews? Does anyone know the types of questions they ask??
