University of Southermost Florida - Coral Gables

  1. 0 I was wondering if anyone is starting in the May term with this school? I got accepted and I'm hoping I'm not the only one lol.

It's suppose to be a class of max 18. We're the first RN class for the school. Anyways, if anyone has questions about applying feel free to message me!

Do NOT GO THERE! They are a bunch of conartists. That's the same company that owns Dade Medical College. They are not accredited with NLN they are only are APPROVED by the board of nursing. You can't transfer their credits only to Nova or may be Barry. I know this because I went to Dade Medical and it was so hard for me to continue my education, also most Miami hospitals won't hire anyone that went there unless you know someone. I had to got my job out of Miami where no one knows about that horrible school. I would suggest you look else where that is cheaper and accredited. And I say this because a CNO of a company that use to allow Dade Medical students to do clinical s there told me to get Dade Medical off my rsum as soon as possible. And basically why I wasn't hired.

    Omg! Thanks for the info!

She did mention that they were associated with Dade Medical but that they were different? Their price is so cheap! She mentioned that they were not regionally accredited or with the NLNAC, but she said it was because its their first class to start. I did all my prereqs so it's only 11k for the entire program for me.

I do want to get hired once I get out of school though *sigh*

Don't believe them at all. I was told by the time we were to graduate Dade medical would be accredited, 100% pass rate in homestead campus and still no accreditation and most of the other campuses are on probation. Cheap or not save your money and go to an accredited school, whose transcripts can transfer and be used. And the people they aren't accredited with are vital for your degree. Seriously do not do it, as cheap as they are you will have a huge consequence to pay for in the long run. Dade medical and this so say "university" have the same exact owner. Matter a fact the DON over at that "university" was at my pinning ceremony so how different are they? I have $24,000 of loans to pay plus to the school. I wanna save anyone from having to have pay them a red cent.

I started with them and dropped after the second semester. By far the worst decision I ever made. The clinicals are at Westchester Hospital and at Long Term Care facilities. The entire time we had no guidance on what to do. Exams came from things not discussed in class or chapters not discussed in the book. The school isn't accredited so if you don't have an AA, don't expect to further your career as NO school will take you in. After the Dean was fired and our classes changed (and another class added and classes deleted) I went to various state colleges. Both Miami Dade College and FIU said, and I quote, that it is a "joke school" and not even the pre reqs (if you plan on taking them there) will transfer. You would have to start from scratch.

I'm not sure if you know, but the owner of USmF and DMC has a terrible reputation. He's apparently a jailbird and rapist? Also, unless you have connections with someone in the hospital, be prepared to be jobless.

If you do end up going, join the night class. The professor gives you the answers to all tests. If you go in the daytime, be prepared to pass with the minimum or fail the class. From the starting day class (18) only 4 passed. They ended up dropping the minimum down, so 8 passed.

Forgot to mention that the possibility of test out of classes won't be given as the school isn't accredited. Good luck with finding the right school. I suggest trying a state school

When I applied the minimum was 50% on the TEAS V. That's it. I have now been told that you need to take the TEAS but it doesn't matter what you get because they don't have a minimum. You just need to take the exam and have graduated high school or have a GED

This school is just another scam just like Dade medical. It makes me sick. I was a former student and it is unbelievable how these people just lie to your face. This school is NOT acredited. The class that is in capstone only 7 out of 22 students passed meaning they are not ready to do an NCLEX. It was very dissapointing to see how money changes everything. Most of these teachers just read off the PowerPoint and that's it. If you have a question some of these professors can't even answer it correctly. One cohort even had 100% failure. Faculty and staff say they have an open door policy but that's another lie. These people are the same people that run dade medical. Bottom line stay way from this school and do all your research before you commit to any school.

University of Southernmost Florida??? I thought this was a joke. I lived in Florida for several years and I knew all the legit universities with 'Florida' in the name, this is definitely NOT one of them! Scam written all over it.

I wish people would stop giving into desperation and actually do some due diligence with respect to educational institutions. Smh.

I currently attend USMF I transferred from Dade medical because ghe teachers would read from power points and never teach they said USMF is better they teach u they care for students I was amazed I had a interview with the dean DR.Bustillo amazing guy I with out a doubt wanted to attend the university the man had his walls FILLED with degrees of KNOWN universities I start school 3 days later we have a so called "town hall meeting" and we are introduced to the new staff... And ALL the faces I see are from Dade medical Miami campus what I fled from followed me !! We told them our opinions our concerns the CEO screamed at a student didn't let her talk two students broke down in tears ! Their response ? That was Dade medical this is USMF we are here to improve the school homestead has a 100% pass rate we are doing something right ... Only two students attended the nclex both passed of course 100% pass rate I felt like they showed us a pretty picture before revealing what was behind it I just switched so I stayed let's see let's give them a chance we got to med surge 1 students were failing we emailed them asking for help their response? We will have a meeting Monday monday 2pm we go to the secretary for Giselle and she didn't come in at all.... Every time we tried o speak our voices were ignored !! In my class 13 students two passed and because the professor saw my interest and helped me Medsurge 2 40 students 2 different professors NO ONE PASSED !!! You had a question let me finish this PowerPoint and at 2pm ask me or email me your question we got reviews that were nothing like the exam our review was study the heart our exam the lungs we failed ok we did the class again I had to drop in the second exam I was still charged 4,000$ !!!! That's a total of 8,000 just out of me!!!! Some people had done this class up to 4 times!!!! Do the math 40 students x $4,000= 160,000 just failing a class look how much they get!!!! It's ridiculous !!!! I am withdrawing from that school next week I'm possibly moving to California IF they take my credits my hope is they don't know the reputation of these so called "educating institutions " so please no one sign up there please I read reviews of Dade medical and thought no they aren't putting their effort I'll put my effort I'll make it no that didn't happen I quit working to study and nothing I have no kids no bf no side ***** no nothing !!! I live with my mother and brother I eat breathe and poop nursing like ur suppose to I dream of all the reading I do n I didn't pass the school is a joke !!! Ernesto just wants money for his house in coral gables and his Bentley !!! While ur catching two buse to attend his joke of a school he's passing u by in his Bentley

I know exactly how you feel. I was a LPN student at the homestead campus when it first opened up in January 2010. All what you just explained is exactly what happened to myself and my classmates. The teachers where not knowledgeable at all, we didn't even have the materials or books that we paid for to even study Its sad. Thank god those campuses are now shut down. They can no longer con students like us who are trying to be something in life but I'm sad for the students who were enrolled when they were shut down. Money and time wasted.
