Hi there! I received my acceptance letter for the Summer 2011 Accelerated BSN Program at UM. I was just wondering if anyone who is already in this program could give me some insight on how they like it. Some of my main questions are is it possible to work part-time throughout the program, and is it difficult to obtain scholarships, etc.? I am from Miami, but I currently live in Ohio, so I have been going back and forth as to whether I should stay here or go back to where it's sunny. :) Anyhow, if anyone who is going through the program or has heard anything about the program has any info they can give me, it would be greatly appreciated!! THANKS!

I'm so thrilled to find you all on this forum! I was accepted for the May program in December, I'm super excited :D

I'm from Seattle and not moving to Miami until May 2nd. I'm wondering if there are any other students that need to find housing close to campus and would want to be roommates?? I know myUM has housing options but people don't seem to post rooms until the last minute. I'm also looking on Craigslist but because I'm from out of town I think I would prefer to share housing with some students in the program. If anyone is interested, let me know! Maybe we can start a new thread if a lot of people are interested..

Anyway, I'll be visiting for a week in March for the Scholarship interview and to secure housing arrangements.

So I sent the application in literally on the day it was due and heard back in late December. I was also apparently missing one transcript (I have 6 total) and a form from my school. Which I mailed right away and surprisingly didn't seem to be a problem..

And the program starts May 16th, so I hear..

I was just accepted into the Accelerated BSN Summer 2011 too! I would love to get to know the other people who have been accepted as well because Miami is going to be a completely new city for me. I'm currently still in Undergrad at Alcorn State University (in Mississippi) but I graduate this may (Biology degree), only to jump right into this nursing program! I'll be 22 when I graduate.

Hello All,

I will be attending the ABSN program at Miami in May. Looking forward to chatting with and meeting all of you.

I will be relocating from Denver so I am interested in recommendations about locations to live or any advice about the program/Miami in general as well. I have read some of the other forums about these topics, but was wondering how the older recommendations worked out (i.e the good, bad about living locations, would you live there again, how did you like the program, etc).

I got in, too, but on Feb 8th. Bummer for the scholarship- I read that you can only apply for it if you're admitted, and they won't accept a late application.

I visited the recruiter in person, and she still said no-go, even though it's live on the UM site. "Applicants must be admitted to the BSN program"...

Hey everyone, I started a group on FB so we can get to know each other. It's a great way to ask each other questions and advice on financial aid, where to live (and more importantly, where NOT to live) and anything else. I have a question. I read somewhere that we need to pay for a background check, but I have not received any information regarding to this matter. I just received some information regarding a second deposit to be paid by February 28th. Do you have any information about it?

Stephanie, no I haven't taken the nclex yet...I didn't think we had to especially since most of us don't have nursing backgrounds?
